Peter Henshaw plans to walk from Rome to Edinburgh to raise funds for Bethany Christian Trust.

He found himself homeless in 2019 and was sleeping on the streets of Edinburgh for 5 gruelling months.

Peter said:

“It was horrendous. There were some really difficult nights where people would throw things at, or get spat on. People would even urinate on me through the night. It was awful.

“Before Covid, there was a night shelter at a church in Gorgie where I would go and Bethany Christian Trust set up a care van that goes around 365 days a year. I used that and I can tell you first-hand that it is a lifeline to people on the street or in temporary accommodation.”

Fortunately, in 2021, Peter was given a tenancy for a council house in Edinburgh and now he plans to ‘give back’ and raise awareness of homelessness by walking from the Vatican to Edinburgh Castle in 150 days!

We are so humbled by his fundraiser and cannot wait to hear his updates.
