What does ‘home’ mean to you?
“There is a verse in the Psalms that says, “God sets the lonely in families” (Psalm 68:6), or more literally, “God makes a home for the one who is lonely.” That promise lies at the heart of our approach.” – Alasdair Bennett, Chief Executive
Featuring a range of real-life stories, interviews, poetry and a creative essay, this year’s Annual Report, Welcome Home, is a reflective and grounding look into the meaning of ‘home’.
The report focuses on how uncertainty and instability can disrupt a person’s life. Read stories like Rem’s, a trained psychologist who found himself alone in Aberdeenshire before Bethany’s Toastie Club welcomed him in; and Fraser’s, who found the stability he needed to rebuild his life at Bethany Christian Centre; and Lizzy’s, who just needed a helping hand to access essential housing support. ‘Home’ is more than just a building; it is a bedrock, a deep sense of love and belonging, a place to be known.
Here at Bethany, our mission is to ensure everyone in Scotland is able to find home.
Please take some time to read through the report and be encouraged by the impact of your support.
Giving ensures that we are able to plan ahead and empower people with long term, practical care. Thanks to the generosity of people across Scotland and beyond, our work continues to benefit more and more people every year.
“Each story is unique but when someone comes seeking help they are making a brave step: a step towards change and towards home.”
