Anne Hope House is a therapeutic residential community for women who are homeless, seeking to make positive changes and pursue a life of recovery.

Project Worker and former resident at the house, Kellie, shared her story of the life-changing love in action she experienced when she first came to Bethany.

I was so anxious the night before going to Anne Hope House…

I was sitting with a friend and she looked at me and said, ‘Kellie, just try and stay for your dinner.’ And, really, that’s all I did that night. I’ve been carried the rest of the way by the support I’ve received.

Before Bethany, I spent many years lost, confused, hurt, and fearful. Using drugs was a solution, but it brought its own kind of chaos and drama… it led me down paths I never thought I would walk down.

I was living a life controlled by a substance.

Anne Hope House gave me community, acceptance, and the safety and space I needed to begin to heal.

The women I lived with showed me strength, determination, and resilience. The staff and volunteers encouraged me, listened, supported, and genuinely cared.

This was love in action.

Because of this support I could begin to build a life again. I got my family back and rebuilt relationships with my daughter and my granddaughter. These are all gifts that have been given to me.

The broken person that I was has been transformed. My job now is to love people in the mess and in the madness, to help give them a hope and a future.
