Pray with us this September

Jump to prayer points

This month we are praying for our work with children and young people in the Glasgow area, providing free counselling and mental health support in schools and communities.

We pray for our UpStream teams and the young people accessing these services.

“For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.”

Psalm 18:28

How to pray with us

Our goal for this calendar is to engage you, our supporters, with the wider contexts and challenges that people experiencing homelessness are facing in Scotland, and to provide statistically-informed prompts for your personal prayers.

Each month this year we have provided two prompts: Pray for Scotland and Pray for Bethany. As well as this, we aim to update our website with current prayer requests for the service or area that we are focusing on that month.

We hope these help to guide your prayers, both for Bethany and for the the nation.

Thank you for joining with us in prayer.

Prayer points this month

Please join us as we give thanks and pray for UpStream this month.

We pray for the young people coming to UpStream who have suffered harm or neglect from their families and who sometimes feel that nobody cares about them. We give you thanks that these young people have found their way to UpStream and we pray that they would know the love of their Heavenly Father through the care and support they receive from our team here.

Thank you Father, Son and Spirit that community is at the core of who you are. We pray for the groups being relaunched at UpStream Youth Counselling. Thank you for the healing that comes from realising we don’t have to walk alone. We pray for courage for the young people to attend the groups, for a culture of kindness in the groups and for wisdom for those holding these spaces. May your love overcome isolation and fear.

We pray for young people who are caught in cycles of violence, harm, and involvement with the justice system. Grant them safety, hope, and the opportunity to experience a different path. For those who come to UpStream seeking support and wanting to make changes in their lives, help them find healthy ways to cope with the strong emotions, challenges, and experiences they carry. May they know hope in their hearts, calm in their minds, peace in their bodies, and wholeness in their lives.
