Pray with us this July

Jump to prayer points

This month we are praying for the tragedy of drug deaths and addiction in Scotland.

Last year, the BBC reported the heartbreaking news that Scotland has been the drugs death capital of Europe for seven years in a row. Over 1,000 people die each year from drug misuse.

We pray for those battling with addiction of all types, that they would receive support and experience breakthrough and restoration.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

John 8:36

How to pray with us

Our goal for this calendar is to engage you, our supporters, with the wider contexts and challenges that people experiencing homelessness are facing in Scotland, and to provide statistically-informed prompts for your personal prayers.

Each month this year we have provided two prompts: Pray for Scotland and Pray for Bethany. As well as this, we aim to update our website with current prayer requests for the service or area that we are focusing on that month.

We hope these help to guide your prayers, both for Bethany and for the the nation.

Thank you for joining with us in prayer.

Prayer points this month

Please join us as we give thanks and pray for specific areas of Bethany’s work this month.

We give thanks for all our church partnerships that help facilitate the Bridge to Freedom recovery programme. We pray for additional partnerships in Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh so that we can offer support in more areas.

We pray for those seeking recovery: that they would know they are at the centre of the Father’s heart; that they would reach out to a Recovery Worker for support; that they would be met by the relentless, grace-filled love of Jesus.

Our addiction support work is run by a dedicated and compassionate team. We are currently interviewing for a Community Resettlement Worker to work alongside Bethany Homes tenants in Glasgow, many of whom have had their lives impacted by substance use. Pray for this recruitment process.

Bridge to Freedom is funded in part through various government grants. Please pray for the applications being written for the Alcohol and Drugs Fund ahead of the deadline in August.
