Pray with us this January
We start our year by praying for people all over the country who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Bethany services deliberately focus on areas where deprivation is highest. The Scottish government measures deprivation by creating an index that considers how deprived an area is across seven domains: Income, Employment, Education, Health, Access to services, Crime, and Housing (a new index is expected to be published in late 2026).
This winter time, let us pray for each Bethany location, that every provision would be multiplied and that we would enter the new year with fresh zeal for our vision of ending homelessness in Scotland, one person at a time.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5
Join us as we pray:
Lord, help us this year as we play our part in relieving suffering and meeting the long-term needs of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across Scotland.
How to pray with us
Our goal for this calendar is to engage you, our supporters, with the wider contexts and challenges that people experiencing homelessness are facing in Scotland, and to provide statistically-informed prompts for your personal prayers.
Each month this year we have provided two prompts: Pray for Scotland and Pray for Bethany. As well as this, we aim to update our website with current prayer requests for the service or area that we are focusing on that month.
We hope these help to guide your prayers, both for Bethany and for the the nation.
Thank you for joining with us in prayer.
Prayer points this month
Please join us as we give thanks and pray for specific areas of Bethany’s work this month.
Give thanks for the work of Bethany Christian Trust, reaching people with love, care and practical support in the most challenging circumstances across Scotland. Please pray for the staff, volunteers and charitable partners to be sustained and given strength to keep sowing hope and demonstrating the Gospel.
Please pray for the people we support in shared accommodation and in their own homes that they may know the right support to rebuild lives and experience safety, love and warmth from the Bethany staff and volunteers.
Give thanks for the opportunities to engage in social activities this year for people we support in community and pray that in the midst of challenges we can help create new happy memories with people.
Please pray for people at the sharp end of the homelessness crisis throughout Scotland, and that Bethany and partners would be equipped to provide emergency support, accommodation and practical assistance as an expression of Christian love in action.
