Pray with us this February

Jump to prayer points

We begin our month by focusing on services that operate under the umbrella we call Community Support & Development, a multi-city network of groups based in the North, West and East of Scotland.

There are a number of people ready to move into their own tenancy, but none available at the moment. We are working closely with other organisations to provide more opportunities for our young people in work placements and try to assist them into relevant, supportive employment for their passions; we’re helping people find life after addiction, to be able to effectively maintain their sobriety in the community whilst also pursuing a fulfilling life beyond recovery. We pray for each of these ‘positive pathway’ opportunities as people move on from our services.

“Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Hebrews 13:1-2

How to pray with us

Our goal for this calendar is to engage you, our supporters, with the wider contexts and challenges that people experiencing homelessness are facing in Scotland, and to provide statistically-informed prompts for your personal prayers.

Each month this year we have provided two prompts: Pray for Scotland and Pray for Bethany. As well as this, we aim to update our website with current prayer requests for the service or area that we are focusing on that month.

We hope these help to guide your prayers, both for Bethany and for the the nation.

Thank you for joining with us in prayer.

Prayer points this month

Please join us as we give thanks and pray for specific areas of Bethany’s work this month.

God, we thank you for the places of welcome and safety that Bethany provides across Scotland. Thank you for Connect Café and Wired-In in Dundee, and for Lunchtime Plug-In and the Sighthill Community meal in Edinburgh. May people who are experiencing loneliness and isolation find warmth, care and belonging at these meals.

We pray for the Recovery Activity groups in Dundee; that these would be places of fun, laughter, friendship and trying new things. Use these groups to bring connection and hope to those on their recovery journey. Thank you for everyone attending the Bridge to Freedom recovery groups across Scotland. Give them courage to share, strength to persevere and the reassurance that they are not alone. We pray for more volunteers to help this work develop and grow.

God, we praise you for the progress made by people who engage with our services – the young people learning skills for employment, the people adding each day onto their ‘clean total’ when doing recovery in community, and the tenants learning how to effectively manage their homes.

God, we thank you that you care for every individual and know the number of each hair on our head. Lord, we pray that through Passing the Baton, people will experience your love as they are befriended through the project in Edinburgh. We give you thanks for our befrienders from local Churches who serve you with a servant heart and unconditional love to bless men and women in need of befriending.
