We are looking for volunteers to help bring energy, creativity, and connection to the lives of young residents at Kharis Court.
Role
Kharis Court is a 24-hour residential housing support service for young people aged 16-25 in Bathgate, West Lothian. As an Activities Volunteer, you will support the staff team in delivering fun, engaging, and meaningful activities for Kharis Court residents. This may include helping with cooking sessions, gardening projects, local outings (such as bowling or trips to the beach), and other group activities. General responsibilities
- Support staff with preparing the space and materials needed for activities.
- Participate in activities alongside residents to help create a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable atmosphere.
- Support with serving refreshments, chatting informally with young people during activities and breaks, and helping them feel comfortable while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Help with tidying up, cleaning, and general housekeeping tasks after each activity.
- Signpost any young person seeking further help or support to the appropriate staff member.
- Raise any concerns about the wellbeing of an individual or any situation within the group with a staff member promptly and appropriately.
- Follow the service’s safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety procedures at all times.

- Be reliable and willing to commit to building consistent and trusting relationships with young people.
- The role involves working with young people aged 16 to 25, who are experiencing homelessness, including some who are asylum seekers. The role may be challenging, and volunteers must demonstrate empathy, compassion, and the ability to engage in a supportive and positive manner.
