Over the bank holiday weekend, something amazing was happening at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival.
Across the 5K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Hairy Haggis Relay, 23 runners from Team Bethany raised over £11,000!
All Team Bethany runners raised funds to support our work ending homelessness in Scotland
Running through a heatwave is never easy, particularly for those that have trained over a Scottish winter…
However, our runners kept going in their commitment to raise money for Bethany Christian Trust. Each runner had their own reasons for taking on the challenge:
- James and Matt were running in honour of their late brother‑in‑law, who was supported by Bethany
- 10 runners were a part of a team formed of residents, staff and close friends of Bethany Christian Centre and they ran to support this home and the services that have impacted their lives
- Mariana ran to make a difference and restore health, confidence, dignity and hope for those facing homelessness
- Jonny ran to impress his wife and crush his personal best!

Together, these amazing runners have beaten our fundraising record for the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and, with the addition of over £2,200 in Gift Aid, these funds will make an impact far beyond the weekend!
Support was strong for Team Bethany at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival!
Alongside cheering on Team Bethany, we joined the team at St Peter’s Episcopal Church Musselburgh to help out at their annual Marathon Café. This was a great opportunity to meet with all the runners and give them some much needed (and home-baked) refreshments to recover their energy, as well as to share a bit about the work of Bethany in Scotland.
