It’s Volunteers’ Week!

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate the incredible group of people who are such vital part of the work of Bethany this Volunteers’ Week.

Alasdair Bennett, Bethany’s Chief Executive, writes:

“We are so grateful to you for your vital contribution – giving of your time, energy and heart to the work and mission of Bethany Christian Trust. You are part of a team of almost 2,000 volunteers across Scotland, from Dumfries to Aberdeen, Stornoway to Edinburgh, who serve others as we work together in ending homelessness in Scotland, one person at a time. What you do does not go unnoticed. Quite simply, Bethany could not do what it does without you.”

Mary has been a dedicated volunteer on our Edinburgh Care Van team for over 20 years

This Volunteers’ Week we will be sharing a few stories of how Bethany volunteers are making a real impact in a variety of ways. There is so much work to be done in ending homelessness, and we are fortunate to have such a beautifully wide range of people with amazing gifts that are part of our work.

Wande shared his story as part of our 2025 Spring Appeal – read it here

Keep an eye on our socials for the Volunteers’ Week posts!

On Monday, we will celebrate Mary, who has been helping on the Care Van for over 20 years! On Tuesday, we will highlight Masame, a full-time volunteer serving at Bethany House for the past year. We will travel to Aberdeen on Wednesday to thank Wande, who has been supporting the Toastie Club and Bridge to Freedom. We want to recognise the contributions of our amazing IT volunteers on Thursday. On Friday, we will celebrate our retail volunteers with a special video!

It is an honour to work alongside with you all in the movement to end homelessness in Scotland, one person at the time!
