This year’s Fashion Showcase was a night to remember!
On Friday 8th May at Ps & Gs Church, the evening brought together supporters, volunteers, staff and service users to celebrate sustainability and creativity, all while raising vital funds to support our work across Scotland. We danced, ate excellent local baked goods and heard the amazing first-hand testimony of Kellie, the inspiration behind this year’s spring appeal, Love in action.
Kellie shared her powerful story of how Anne Hope House changed her life
Fashion might seem worlds away from homelessness services at first glance. One is often associated with creativity, self-expression, and personal style, while the other exists to walk alongside people experiencing difficult and uncertain periods of their lives.
Events like the Showcase exist because those worlds are not as separate as they may appear.
The Showcase is a perfect mix of fun, sustainable fashion and learning more about the connection between our charity shops and the work of Bethany
That felt especially clear this year as three service users from Bethany Christian Centre stepped onto the runway to celebrate confidence, individuality, and the incredible people at the heart of Bethany’s community, alongside our usual array of models.
Across Bethany, whether in our shops, our community spaces, or frontline services, so much of the work is rooted in dignity, confidence and helping people recognise their own value.
Confidence can grow when we feel welcome and valued, and helps all of us to make positive changes in life. Building confidence and resilience is at the heart of our homelessness prevention services.
Our eight shops are open 6-days-a-week. Every sale goes towards our mission of ending homelessness in Scotland!
We have eight welcoming spaces across Edinburgh, Gullane and Glasgow that play an important role within their local communities as ambassadors for Bethany.
Each shop is full of incredible pieces generously donated by supporters, and the annual Fashion Showcase allows us to bring curated outfits to life on the runway and celebrate the joy of sustainable shopping.
Alongside celebrating our shops, the Showcase creates opportunities to tell the wider story of Bethany across Scotland, shining a light on the work that happens every day. This event was a reminder for people that support, dignity and belonging can take many different forms.
