Our June Volunteer of the Month is Audrey Callan!

Audrey has been a dedicated volunteer at the Lunchtime Plug-in at Stenhouse Baptist Church for over two years.

A local resident who enjoys staying active and spending time with her nieces and nephews, Audrey first got involved with volunteering after finding herself with some free time and a desire to do something worthwhile in her community.

A simple online search led her to Bethany Christian Trust, and with the church close to home and the opportunity feeling like the right fit, she decided to get involved.

“It fell into place… It was something I could do, and I had the skills.”

Known for her organisational skills and love of staying busy, Audrey quickly found her rhythm in the weekly community meal setting. She’s learned a lot during her time volunteering, particularly about compassion, patience, and the importance of being open to people from all walks of life, including those in recovery.

“You’re always learning. I’ve become more humble and more open with everybody.”

For Audrey, the rewards of volunteering go both ways.

“You get a sense of having done something useful. There’s a real feelgood factor. The more I’m there, the more rewarding it becomes.”

Thank you, Audrey!
