Last year we worked with Tara, Matilda, Lily, Lily, Laiba, and Martha, pupils from Portobello High School who had decided to focus their YPI (The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative) presentations on our Housing and Support stream.
To do this, they interviewed staff members from Move on Support about the support they provide as well as interviewing past service users about their experiences of the service.
The YPI panel were struck by one past service user’s experience of wrap–around support. In the video that the group created, the service user explained how his Support Worker went above and beyond to provide tailored support which met his long-term needs as well as refer him to other partner organisations for other needs he had. The service user mentioned his life had been completely transformed by the support he had received from Bethany staff.
The group won the top prize of £3,000 grant for Bethany Christian Trust, funded by The Wood Foundation, which was able to be put towards our vital work, wherever the need is greatest.
Since it was introduced to Scotland in 2008 by The Wood Foundation, it has engaged more than 390,000 young people who have taken responsibility for £8.5m of charitable giving.
