UpStream Communities Receives £250,000 from Essentia Foundation!

We are thrilled to announce that our UpStream Communities service has been awarded £250,000 from the Essentia Foundation, administered by Foundation Scotland. We were selected as one of only eight projects across Scotland to receive this major grant.

Essentia awards are focused on projects that support children and young people to improve their health and social welfare, and increase opportunities for training, learning, upskilling, and career development.

“We are incredibly thankful to the Essentia Foundation for their partnership and investment. This funding helps us reach even more young people in need of support as they navigate complex challenges and the effects of trauma, helping them build brighter, more stable futures and reducing their risk of homelessness.”

– Martin Fraser, UpStream Counselling & Families Manager

This three year funding will help Bethany Christian Trust to continue delivering vital mental health support to young people aged 10-25 in Glasgow.

UpStream Communities offers free, trauma-informed counselling, wellbeing groups, and psychological support to those facing significant barriers including poverty, school refusal, adverse childhood experiences, or long waits for statutory services.

Brian Davidson, trustee for the Essentia Foundation, said:

“The eight winning bids stood out as well thought through and designed to deliver real benefit in areas of significant deprivation over two and three year terms.”

All of us at Bethany Christian Trust are deeply grateful to the Essentia Foundation for believing in our work and investing in the futures of young people who need it most – this funding will be transformational in helping them overcome challenges and build the foundations for successful, independent lives.
