The Sainsbury’s Bank team recently came down to Haddington Place to help shop manager, Kasia, prepare for a vintage event that the Bethany Shop is hosting in August.

The team steamed, sorted and tagged items in preparation for the event. We asked team lead Stephen Robertson and Fleming McNiven about why volunteering is important to them.

Why have you chosen to spend to spend a day volunteering with Bethany Christian Trust?

Stephen: Sainsbury’s is 150 this year and has launched the 150 Days of Community initiative to celebrate. This will see 180,000 employee’s from across the business being invited to volunteer for a cause in their local community.

As a company, Sainsbury’s has always been invested in the community and seeks to give back.

We chose Bethany as I had previously volunteered with them, and appreciated the opportunity to give back to the homeless and those who don’t have much.

Why do you feel volunteering is important?

Fleming: It’s great to have the opportunity to add value to the community, to come together to do something for others. It’s a way to see outside of our everyday.
