Passing the Baton is a befriending service supporting vulnerable people in our community who are both at risk of, or have experienced, homelessness. The service provides those facing loneliness and isolation with meaningful friendship, support and kindness.
Church members interested in becoming a befriender with Passing the Baton are invited to join us for two inspirational training sessions in which you will learn the skills required to build meaningful relationships with those in need. These training sessions are free and include an evening meal followed by training delivered by experienced Passing the Baton co-ordinators.
Tuesday 5th March 2019 6:30 – 9:00pm
Our first session will focus on:
- Why is friendship important?
- What is transactional analysis?
- Why do we need boundaries and confidentiality?
Tuesday 12th March 2019 6:30 – 9:00pm
Our second session will focus on:
- What makes a good conversation?
- Listening for people’s hopes and skills
- Helping people to achieve their goals
