Our Glasgow project, Building Stronger Families, helps families living in areas of significant deprivation. We work in the top 10% most deprived areas of the city. The people who live in these communities have poorer levels of health, education and limited job prospects.

In recent years we’ve witnessed an increase in relationship breakdown, which is the number one reason people report for becoming homeless.

Building Stronger Families is a direct response to this increase. We help families stick together and become stronger. With tailored support, families are able to address issues around housing, poverty and education.

Our approach is to adapt to the specific needs of the local communities and to provide tailored services in response to the issues that put pressures on families.

When a local primary school teacher told us she was having difficulty communicating with parents of five children who only spoke Mandarin,  we started a class to help parents connect with the school. Since then, the class has become hugely popular and many of our parents have gone on to enrol on a college course.

We want to say a big thank you to all our supporters who make it possible for us to offer such a variety of services. With your help we are now able to run informal drop-ins, more formal parenting classes and much needed one-to-one support. Amazingly, we’re also able to hold regular support groups for parents and carers who really need time off to recharge their batteries. Please continue to support us as we empower families to make positive changes and to see both parents and children reach their full potential and live out their aspirations.
