So what are we looking for?

The HR Manager will be an integral member of the People Development and Relationship Team and proactively work to deliver HR best practice and focused HR solutions in people management, development and engagement to support the plans and priorities of their division, the wider organisation and the requirements of commissioning and other external monitoring bodies.

You will need to be technically sound in HR to undertake this role, but we need more than that…….

We need you to be innovative, proactive, adaptable, supportive, diplomatic and discreet, with the ability to build and develop good relationships at all levels, as well as having the drive and motivation to implement change when needed. In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of this respected charity whilst being part of a great management team.

In this role you will gain excellent experience in the full remit of HR work. The role is very varied and the post holder will require to be both reactive and sensitive to the HR issues arising within the organisation at any given time. This post is requires you to have in depth knowledge of and notable experience with iTrent, our HR database

We need you to be innovative, proactive, comfortable working on your own initiative, adaptable, supportive, diplomatic and discreet, with strong time management skills. We are also looking for an individual with the ability to build and develop good relationships at all levels. In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of this respected charity and gain fantastic HR experience as part of our small, friendly team.

Essential experience and skills required for this role:           

  • Sound HR Administration experience
  • Excellent IT skills and proficiency in the use of HR software, Microsoft Office and also maintaining and enhancing the HR system
  • Good working knowledge of Midland HR iTrent software
  • Knowledge of the legal requirements of the recruitment process including but not limited to eligibility to work in the UK processes
  • Excellent team work skills
  • Excellent organisational ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Based across Edinburgh shops and in Gullane, various hours of work available.

We have 5 shops in Edinburgh and a shop in Gullane to support the vital services we provide. All our services focus on relieving the immediate suffering and meeting the long terms needs of homeless and vulnerable people in Scotland. We don’t just work with homeless people. We stop people becoming homeless in the first place. When you join Bethany you are supporting projects such as the Winter Care Shelter, Care Van, Family Support work, Housing Support etc

As a Casual Retail Assistant you will join a fantastic teams of staff and volunteers.

You will make decisions on the sorting, recycling, pricing and displaying of donated goods in line with pricing guidelines for the shop.

This position also requires competent use of the till, and some financial tasks. When working without a manager in the shop, you are required to follow daily and weekly work plans as set out by the Shop Manager.

Bethany Christian Trust is a national charity whose mission is to relieve the suffering and meet the long term needs of homeless and vulnerable people in Scotland.

You will be working closely with our maintenance team on a casual basis. The purpose of this role is to support the maintenance team and assist with carrying out general repairs, electrical, joinery, plumbing and refurbishment work at both our residential and commercial properties. This role will also involve occasional travel within Scotland.

You will require an up-to-date CSC certification and experience in general labour and electrical work. Team working, willingness to learn, flexibility, and consideration towards our service users are essential to this role. A driving license is desirable. This position is subject to a satisfactory basic disclosure check.

To work as part of a team to ensure the smooth daily running of the unit and to help create a safe, supportive caring and empowering environment for service users.   To provide a high standard of care, among others.  Experience and knowledge of our service user group and the issues surrounding them is essential.  SVQ 3 in Social Care or equivalent is desirable coupled with experience in a Residential/Housing support setting.

Job Title: Bethany’s Caring Christmas Trees Administrator
Job Type: Fixed Term: 2-3 months, Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £18,545 per annum
Holiday entitlement: 225 hours per year pro rata

You will work as a customer service administrator to help us sell high quality Scottish Christmas trees to raise funds for our work over the Christmas period, based in our Edinburgh office.

If you are a target-focused, self-starting person with strong organisational skills, we’d love to hear from you. This role would particularly suit someone who likes using the telephone, an e-commerce database and someone who likes problem-solving.

You will work for 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week, which will include working weekends. As this is a seasonal project, we are looking for candidates who can start immediately and until mid January, and who would prefer not to take annual leave during this short period. Holiday entitlement will be paid on top of the period worked.
