Care Van Co-ordinator Edinburgh                                   

Salary:  £11,600.53 gross per annum

Permanent Part time: 20 hours per week

Holiday entitlement: 225 hours per year pro rata

 

This is an exciting opportunity to  oversee a project operating a lunchtime care van for the homeless and vulnerable people in Edinburgh running alongside the Care Van service that operates in the evening.

It is run in partnership with Edinburgh City Mission and serves between 20 and 60 people who are rough sleeping on 363 nights of the year.  Staffed by around 750 people from 45 volunteer teams from churches across Edinburgh and the Lothians, the service relies entirely on volunteers.

You will need a ‘can do’ attitude, be self- motivated and able to work with staff, service users and volunteers.   You must have the ability to organise, recruit, network effectively and deliver some training.    Competency in Microsoft Office is essential as is the ability to make day to day decisions in the running of this project.    A driver with a UK driving licence (D1 an advantage) is necessary as you will be promoting the project to various church groups.

Project Worker: (Maternity Cover, to February 2022)                 

Part-Time 22.5 Hours per week,

1 sleepover cover on a Friday 1.30pm-2pm Saturday

Flexibility around 7hrs during the week                                                   

Salary: £13,380.60 gross per annum

 Kharis Court is a residential unit for young people experiencing homelessness in West Lothian. The project provides accommodation to young men and women 16-25 years of age in a four bed hostel and to young men and women 16-25 in supported flats. The project is located in Bathgate, West Lothian

You will be involved in the day-to-day running of the unit, providing emotional and practical support to individuals, and enabling them to learn independent living skills through support planning, assessments and key working. A team player with good communication skills, you will have experience and knowledge of our service user group and their surrounding issues.

Competence in the use of Microsoft office tools is essential. An SVQ 3 in Social Care, Promoting Independence or equivalent as listed by SSSC as appropriate for a ‘Housing Support Worker’ is desirable coupled with experience of working with vulnerable and homeless people.

To work as part of a team to ensure the smooth daily running of the unit and to help create a safe, supportive caring and empowering environment for service users.   To provide a high standard of care, among others.  Experience and knowledge of our service user group and the issues surrounding them is essential.  SVQ 3 in Social Care or equivalent is desirable coupled with experience in a Residential/Housing support setting.
