On Friday 20 March Bethany were planning our annual Bethany Big Sleep Out – which encourages participants to raise funds and awareness by spending a night under the stars outside Glasgow or Edinburgh City Chambers.
Unfortunately, due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to move forward with our event as originally planned. Instead of cancelling the event entirely, for the first time ever, we launched the Bethany Big (Virtual) Sleep Out over social media.
Participants were encouraged to Sleep Out in their gardens, garages or under blanket forts in their living rooms. People engaged online throughout the night by posting their own photo and video updates; the event proved to be a fun and creative alternative in an uncertain time.
Throughout the night, fundraisers were provided with live updates on social media, a live presentation from our Chief Executive and even a bed time story from our own Digital Fundraiser, Annabel Logan. Despite being changed last minute, the event still managed to raise a fantastic £13,500 towards Bethany’s life-saving services. Thank you to all of our Bethany heroes who came out and supported us during this challenging time!
