What Do The Community Education Team Offer?

Bethany’s Community Education service helps people to learn and to become more confident. We run a number of drop-ins and groups, all of which offer a safe and welcoming atmosphere where participants can get to know others and can learn at their own pace.

EDINBURGH

Drop-ins on offer include:

  • Women’s drop-in (includes lunch, a crèche, and a different activity each week) Please click to have a look at women Flier
  • ECDL computer skills qualification
  • Men’s drop-in (includes lunch, a weekly quiz, and opportunities to get involved in other clubs and activities including fishing and cycling)
  • Housing, Employment and Volunteering drop-in (includes help to make a CV)
  • Computer Drop-In
  • Get Creative art group
  • The Bugle editorial group (this group puts together The Bugle magazine. You can also contribute to The Bugle magazine without coming to this group)

Course on offer include:

  • Beginners IT course (ten weeks, this course costs £200 and can be paid using your ILA account)
  • ECDL self study (this costs £200 and includes learning resources and tests)

FIFE

Drop-ins on offer include:

  • Toastie Club Dunfermline (at the Viewfield Centre, Mondays, Thursday and Fridays)
  • Toastie Club Leven (at Leven Baptist Church Hall, Fridays)
  • Dunfermline Women’s Drop-In (at the Link Church, Fridays)

Who can come along to the drop-ins and courses?

We welcome anyone who does not have a job; if you are homeless or in temporary accommodation, we would love you to come along. If you do have a job, but still feel isolated you are welcome to come along.

If you have a job, you can also do the ECDL or the Beginners IT course.

How to Apply

You are welcome to come along to a drop-in at any time. Feel free to bring a friend or a support worker along with you.

Because the aim of the groups is to equip people to make their own choices we actively support people in planning the next move. We have established links with local colleges as well as links with local employers. Should anyone need more specialist advice or help we are happy to source other agencies and refer on.
