Bethany Christian Centre

Bethany Christian Centre is a supportive working community for men aged 17-70. We work with those who have found themselves in need of support to resettle back into a stable, drug and alcohol free environment. Men are given support with addiction issues, budgeting, legal matters, health issues, family relationships, housing applications, benefit claims, contact with counselling services and other agencies, etc. The men learn to work and serve each other as they participate in community meetings, cooking, cleaning, group activities and house holidays. With the help of the Training Section men have education and voluntary work placements within Bethany or further afield. Bethany Addiction Team offer group work and one to one counselling to our residents, who benefit greatly from these services.

Matthew and Martha House

The services provide accommodation and support to young men (Matthew House) and young women (Martha House) who have found themselves homeless. Martha House also has the capacity to accommodate young infant children. Residents stay for an initial period of 12 weeks that can be repeated to a maximum of a 36-week stay.

Both houses are meeting a need for small units with 24-hour support to address the challenge of youth homelessness in West Lothian. To achieve this, each house seeks to provide a supportive framework to enable and empower the residents to move towards their own tenancy. A structured support programme includes help on tenancy issues, group work, special interests, topical discussions, sport, outings and house meetings. Residents are encouraged to make full use of this support and to participate as fully as possible in the programme. Each resident has a dedicated support worker and the units are staffed 24 hours a day. Residents are also involved in the upkeep of the houses and gardens and are welcome to participate in house devotions.
