When we think of children and summer holidays we imagine them playing, having fun and building positive memories with family and friends. However, for too many of our country’s most vulnerable children and young people, summer is far from this. Poverty and family crisis often leads to a summer of disappointment, hurt and social isolation.

This summer, thanks to your generous donation, Bethany Christian Trust, in partnership with Hopscotch Holidays, were able to support 23 children and families to have a holiday to remember! For many, this was their first proper holiday away from home.

The holiday provided these children and families with a week full of wonderful experiences. As well as activities like art & crafts, baking, going for walks and visiting beaches, there were great excursions with trained support workers on hand.  These included horse-riding, mountain biking and a high ropes course, all of which are designed to improve the children’s confidence and create an environment of love and support.

It’s amazing how much John has changed since coming back from Hopscotch. He has so much more confidence now.  Before this summer when we went out anywhere he would always stay so close and hold on to my arm and would find it hard talking to people he didn’t know. Now when we walk into the shops he walks ahead of me and chats to folks. I can’t believe how much his confidence has grown. This holiday has been so good for him.

They say good childhood memories last a lifetime. With your help, these children and families have had the opportunity to not only build amazing memories, but also life skills that will last a lifetime. Thank you again for this wonderful gift.
