Bethany Christian Trust believes that we are commissioned to demonstrate God’s love by living as Jesus lived, with a heart of compassion for the most vulnerable people in our society.
We help people to recover from crisis with dignity. Our teams do whatever it takes to bring practical assistance where it is needed most, regardless of religion, race or nationality. We work side by side with churches, local communities, public, private and third sector partners to leave a lasting impact.
Bethany Christian Trust was founded 35 years ago by Reverend Alan Berry, as a practical response to the issue of homelessness in Scotland. He decided that he couldn’t just preach from passages like Matthew 25 and Luke 4, but had to personally live it out and invite others to do so as well. Iain Gordon took on the leadership of Bethany in 2002 and has led us to grow as an organisation that combines serious professional credibility with our Christian identity. The Board of Trustees is profoundly grateful for the strengthening and growth of Bethany’s work under Iain’s leadership.
We now seek a leader to build on this and inspire us to greater works of compassionate service to people who are homeless and vulnerable across Scotland. Experience in the charity sector is valued but not a necessary requirement for the role. What is required is a deep passion to relieve suffering and meet the long terms needs of homeless and vulnerable people in Scotland. You will desire to take all your gifts and your experience and invest them fully into serving as the next leader of Bethany Christian Trust.
