Full-time Volunteering
This type of volunteering is aimed mainly at young people as part of a Gap Year Programme.
Full-time volunteers at Bethany work across the Trust in all sections. They form a key part of the full time staffing, working alongside project workers, shop managers and assistant managers. Areas in which full-time volunteers work include:
Care Section Volunteers work alongside permanent members of staff, in the day to day running of the hostels (Bethany House, Bethany Christian Centre) and care of residents. These volunteers work shifts, including night shift according to the unit rota as drawn up by the manager.
Commerce Section Full time volunteers work in three areas within the Commerce section.
In the Hub volunteers are involved in co-ordination and administration of operations as well as supervision and support of trainees on New Deal and voluntary work placements.
Volunteers in Bethany charity shops work alongside the shop managers and assistant managers in running busy retail outlets for donated goods. They are also involved in support of part-time volunteers and trainees.
Volunteers in the referrals service work with the permanent staff, interviewing clients, putting in grant applications and performing general administration of the referrals procedure.
Training Section Volunteers assist with community training and administration.
Full-time volunteers are provided with accommodation and given living expenses and pocket money for the 12 months they are with us.
If you are interested in our programme, we ask that you apply through Time For God or Careforce. These agencies support volunteers in a wide range of opportunities, both in Britain and elsewhere. They can also help overseas volunteers with visas etc. You can contact them on volunteer@timeforgod.org or enquiry@careforce.co.uk. If you need further information you can email the Volunteer Co-ordinator at personnel@bethanyct.com or telephone 0131 467 3030.
